2021 Cap-IM Big Bang Claims: 2 entries now left to claim!

Unfortunately, none of the stories submitted to us for this Big Bang are able to be claimed by podficcers, as they are not 100% complete at time of claims. There are multiple stories that have opted into being claimed by manip, GIF and fanmixers.



This is the CLAIMS phase of the Big Bang, and where the artists come in! 10 fantastic drafts have been submitted and are awaiting artists to claim them.

By claiming a story, you assert that you will collaborate with your writer(s) to produce a new Stevetony fanwork to accompany their story when posting begins in November. There is no penalty-free dropping out after this point.

You do not need to be a member of the cap_ironman community or have a Dreamwidth account to participate in claims. Anonymous comments are enabled. Commenting will open when the claiming phase begins.

Your schedule:

• October: Creators work on their piece(s), writers finish their fics
• Saturday, October 23rd: Teams select their November posting dates
• November: BB entries are posted throughout the month

A recap on some of the main rules:

• Please remember to read through our General Event Policies and the Big Bang Event Guidelines for all participants, as well as the Guidelines for Claiming Creators for this year’s challenge before claiming.


• Any story is eligible to be claimed if the creator is planning to do an accompanying fanvid or traditional or digital artwork


• Creators wanting to create an accompanying fanmix with cover art, manips or gifs can only claim stories where the writer has OPTED INTO receiving these art forms.


• In addition to a new accompanying fanwork, claiming creators will be required to create a banner for their team.


• This is a collaborative challenge; you are expected to keep in touch with your team for the duration of the challenge. You must coordinate with your partner during the posting period.


• All participants must be 18 or older.

Claiming:
To claim a story on Saturday, September 18, you will need to leave a comment with the following information (copy and paste in your own details):

• Claims will be made on a first-come, first-served basis and you will be assigned the first option that is still available on your list.


• Initially, you may only claim once, and you will be assigned a single story. We will announce if/when double claims begin.


• If the claim time is inconvenient for you, we encourage you to find someone to proxy claim for you. Your proxy comments on the claims post instead of you, providing your username, email and claims following the template above. You can email the mod team for assistance in finding a proxy.


• If you have a specific concern and would like the mods to vet a story draft before you make your choices, please let us know at cap.im.events@gmail.com before claims begin.

Writers, remember that claiming creators have different schedules and timezones, and that though we try to accommodate everyone, your fic may not be claimed in the first few hours. Please be patient, and don’t look at claims as a competition This challenge is about pairing like-minded creators who will work together to produce exciting new Steve/Tony content; sometimes it takes a while for the right person to come along!

When matching is complete, we will send out emails to connect teams, along with further instructions.

Please don't contact your partner until you receive the mod connection email. Please reply directly to the email letting mods know that you received it. After this point, team members are responsible for keeping in touch with each other for the duration of the challenge.

Which was fine, until Afghanistan and then his second identity had a name - Iron Man - and then there was New York and the Avengers and Steve Rogers. Then he discovers his crush on Steve is requited and he’s juggling two identities and a relationship, while working with Hank and Hope to figure out if Jan is alive. And then there's whatever Darren Cross is up to with the Pym Particles.

(Contains lots of found family between Tony, Hank and Hope. Tony has a secret identity but he can be out of the suit; when he's being Tony Stark he wears the veil from CATWS and a blond wig. Steve doesn't know Iron Man's name when they get together but they discuss this before getting together.)

Story excerpt:

Tony was so busy trying not to get lost in those eyes that he almost missed the couple marauding their way around the dance floor with no thought for anyone else on the floor.

“Hey, watch it!” Tony scolded, pulling Steve further into his arms to avoid them. “You okay?” he asked, glancing up and promptly losing the ability to breathe when he realised how close Steve was.

“Yeah, fine,” Steve replied quietly.

“Good.”

Then, instead of moving back like Tony expected, Steve seemed to lean into him. Tony was a genius with one of the highest IQs in Mensa’s history but his brain had completely stopped functioning. Even if he’d wanted to, he couldn’t do anything but keep dancing with Steve in his arms.

Every word stabbed into his heart until he realized the only thing he could do would be to go to the funeral, pay his respects, and try to make things right again. Natasha never tells him to go to Tony, to make things right. She knows better after all this time. She kisses him on the cheek and leaves him in his rented warehouse, listening to the dogs howl and bark, and watching the tide roll in.

“Well, I did say I can fix it, honestly it shouldn’t take too long, and it would be something to do, because honestly this place has zero things to do.”
“So, you’re just inviting me over because my bike is a distraction,” Steve said smiling and it was the best thing in the world.
“Exactly,” Tony said, smiling back at him. “Now come on, let’s get this thing into the garage, did you know it’s cold out here?”

Hesitating, Steve gives him a nervous smile, that he’s sure can’t be seen in the dark. If he answers honestly, the answer is irrefutably ‘yes’; it goes along with the old, warm, comfortable feeling in his chest whenever Tony is involved. “A little.”

Tony grins wolfishly. “Good enough.”

Taking Tony’s hand, Steve walks forward into the dark.
