Attention Big Bang teams! It's time to choose your posting date!

Please click on this link and fill out the poll. Quick rules/reminders:

  1. One date claim per team

  2. Only one team will be allowed to post on any given day

  3. Double teams (a story with two artists working on it) can post together. (Basically this means that the work of both artists will be linked in one post.) In this case please claim using the first of the two names.

  4. If you have any questions or problems please contact a mod!

We have been getting questions about posting dates for the Big Bang, so just to reassure everyone:
There will be a post up this Saturday, 1st November, where you can pick a date. One date per team, so coordinate who does the claiming. The post will have any instructions needed.

CLAIMS ARE NOW CLOSED! THANK YOU EVERYONE!

This is the Big Bang SECOND ROUND art claim. That means all fics are open to be claimed a second time, and any author who is claimed again this round will have TWO artists to work with. Artists who submitted a claim in round one are not eligible to claim in round two. By claiming a story, you assert that you will collaborate with your author(s) to produce custom artwork to accompany their story when posting begins November 5th. You do not need to be a member of the Cap-Ironman comm or have a LJ account. Anonymous comments are enabled.

September 28th: Summaries open for artists to claim
October: Artists art, writers put finishing touches on their fics
November 1st: Artist and author teams pick posting date in November
November 5th: Fics and art begin posting

Illustration not your thing? Acceptable art also includes original graphics, vids, and fanmixes (must include cover graphics). Additional formats may be allowed on request. Manips are not allowed.

To claim, please leave a comment with the following information:

Artist username:
Artist email:
Option 1:
Option 2:
Option 3:

Three options are required; however, you may include more if you wish. Claims will be made on a first-come basis.

When matching is complete, we will send out e-mails to hook up artists with their authors, along with further instructions. It will be your responsibility to open communications with your team members.

If all stories are claimed quickly, a second round of claims is possible.

A word about warnings: Many of these stories include bad language, substance abuse, sexual situations, violence, etc. We limited warnings here to the big stuff. If you have a specific concern and would like the mods to vet a story before you make your choices, please let us know. cap.ironman.fic.exchange@googlemail.com

At this stage, please send any questions or things that need our attention to the comment section of this post unless we've made a mistake with your summary. In that case, please use email to preserve your anonymity!

Due to some confusion with the claim process, we're still looking for an artist for this story:

Sugar
MCU-based
It should be saving the world as usual when the Avengers have to investigate the mysterious disappearances at a remote laboratory in Appalachia, but the threat is much greater than they know. Steve and Tony are trying to navigate the next step in their relationship, but an ancient darkness deep within the mountain will threaten all their lives if they can't work together to stop it. Note: This is a Lovecraft fusion, but while knowledge of his Mythos will likely increase your enjoyment of the story, it's not essential. A plot-heavy horror story that offers a decent amount of Thor as a secondary character and the chance to draw lots of tentacles, if that sweetens the pot for anyone. Not for the squeamish.
warnings: graphic depictions of body horror and dark/violent themes

Claimed!

ALL FIC HAS NOW BEEN CLAIMED!

NOTE: This is the claim preview period. Artists, take some time to read over the summaries and compile your wish list. You will need to return this Sunday (the 28th) after 12:00 noon EDT to submit your claim and make it all official.

This is the ART CLAIM phase of the Big Bang. Nineteen draft stories have been submitted and are awaiting artists to claim them. Greetings authors and artists! Drafts for the 2014 Big Bang are due Sept 22nd. Summaries will be posted for preview by the evening of the 26th, and claims will open Sunday. Claims will be filled in the order received.

Drops up to this point are painless. If you need to drop, simply do nothing. (You can send us a mail if you really want, but if we don't receive a draft from you then we'll assume you're not participating this year for whatever reason.) If you'd like to try again next year, we are looking to slow down the admittedly hectic fest schedule and give people more time to write/art.

***

To "officially" enter the 2014 Big Bang, you must submit a draft. Drafts must be mostly complete, including an ending. We need 80%, or roughly 20k of the required 25k word count. It is okay if you have skeleton scenes or bits that still exist in outline form, but the majority of your draft needs to be prose.  Remember, your artist will read and work from your draft, along with your input.

You do not need a title at this time. Titles won't be used in the claiming process.

To submit, email us at cap.ironman.fic.exchange@gmail.com and ATTACH your draft file. We prefer .ODT and .DOCX format, but we can handle just about anything. Please name your draft file to include your username.

In the body of the e-mail reply, include which UNIVERSE you've written for and any major WARNINGS.

In the body of the e-mail reply, also include a SUMMARY of your story. Please keep it to 100 words or less. It can be as detailed or spoilery as you like. Be honest and straightforward; artist claims will be based entirely on summaries.

If you still do not have an Ao3 account, please include "I need an Ao3 code".

That's it!

Respond to this post with any questions or problems. We will be confirming receipt of drafts, but it may take us a day or so to do it. (Pesky time zones.) Detailed instructions for phase two will go out when we match up author and artist teams.  Also, remember our 2014 beta matching post.

Good luck everyone!

The Reverse Bang is posting, so that means it's time for us to roll right into this year's Big Bang!

A Big Bang is a fest where writers write a long-ish fic, then artists create artwork to match, all amid great secrecy. At the end, the joint projects are posted or "revealed" for all to enjoy.

the basics:

This is a Steve/Tony fest, so we’re looking for fics with a focus on Steve and Tony’s relationship.  If there is romance, Steve and Tony should be together in some capacity at the end of the story (aka endgame).  In gen fics, secondary pairings should be kept to the background.

Fics must be complete by November 1st and a minimum of 25k words. Using a fic in progress is fine, so long as you write 25k worth of new material during the fest. Fics that have been previously posted -- either entirely or in parts as a WIP -- are disqualified.

Sorry, we don't allow pre-formed teams, and we expect all participants to be open to working with new people.  We also can't guarantee that a particular author and artist be paired together as there will be a random element to the claim process.

The fest will again be hosted on A03 and make use of our collection.  Authors will be required to have an Ao3 account and will have the responsibility of posting their own fics. We'll make sure everyone who needs an invite code gets one.

the schedule:

May 17th: Writers submit intent to participate
May-September: Writers write
September 22nd: Drafts and summaries due/writer sign-ups close
September 26th: Summaries posted for artists to claim
October: Artists art, writers put finishing touches on their fics
November 1st: Artist and author teams pick posting date in November
November 5th: Fics and art begin posting

the sign-ups:

We're handling sign-ups this year the same way we did for the reverse bang.  There is no official sign up period.  Any writer who submits a draft prior to Sept 22nd will be "signed up" for the fest.  Any artist who claims a draft in the Sept 26th claims post is likewise "signed up" for the fest.

In the meantime, we would like some idea of how many people to expect, so if you do intend to participate, email cap.ironman.fic.exchange@gmail.com with the subject "count me in for BB 2014". Include your username and email address, and whether you're a writer or artist.  If you're on the fence, go ahead and send us a mail!  Dropouts prior to the Sept 22nd deadline are painless.  (If we don't receive a draft or claim from you we'll automatically count you as a drop.)

the prompts:

Leave comments to this post with any story prompts/ideas you'd like to see tackled. Who knows, you might give some lucky author a holy-shit-I-need-to-write-that moment. :)
