Cap/Iron Man Big Bang

All Big Bang fanworks should be completed, formatted, and ready to post in full by your posting date.

Each participating creator is responsible for posting their work on their scheduled posting day. A challenge-fulfilling work must be posted all at once, and it should be complete as a stand-alone. We require you to link to your partner's work when your team has posted, and it's courteous to acknowledge the hard work they've put into this collaboration!

All works must be posted on your scheduled posting date by noon Eastern Time.

If something comes up, contact the mods. Extra works (such as sequels or bonus art) will only be included in the Challenge Masterlist if posted before the end of the Big Bang posting period, and a link must be sent to the mods.

Posting Day Checklist:

1. Post your completed work to AO3 before noon ET.


2. Add your work to our 2021 Cap-IM BB collection (alternatively, post directly to the collection by clicking on the link and then the "post new work to collection" button).


3. Add links to your team's work(s) on your BB post(s) once they too have posted.


4. Designate one team member to fill out our Masterpost Information Form by noon ET so that the mods can create a Team Masterpost, and later the Event Masterlist.

POSTING YOUR WORK

All fanworks are required to be posted as unlocked AO3 works for longevity and accessibility reasons. You can crosspost your work to any channels and platforms of your choice on your posting date after you have posted to AO3.

Here are some options commonly used when posting a Big Bang collaboration:

• Inspired By — The writer creates an AO3 work for their fic, and the creator posts their work to AO3 separately as a work inspired by the fic. This is a good option if your team prefers not to embed the fanwork(s) into the story.


• Co-Authors — Creating a single AO3 work with all creators listed as co-authors, with the fanwork(s) embedded into the story.


• Author's Note — The creators link to each other's works at the top of their AO3 work and describe the association in their own words without using an AO3 function (or in addition to it).

If you need to make an AO3 account, please request an invite here and keep in mind that it might take a few days for you to get it and be able to create the account. If you run into trouble, contact the mods at cap.im.events@gmail.com ASAP so we can sort out an invite.

When posting your work to AO3, be sure that it is in our 2021 Captain America/Iron Man Big Bang collection. You can do this by either posting the work directly to the collection, or by manually adding "2021_Cap_Ironman_Big_Bang" in the Post to Collection / Challenges field in the Associations section and pressing Enter. Do not worry if the collection does not appear as an option in the AO3 dropdown menu (this is a common glitch); if you add the collection manually as above it will be fine.

WRITERS

Please be aware that your word count may be different from AO3's when posting. Mods will be going by AO3 for the 25,000 word minimum, so make sure your fic meets that requirement.

ARTISTS:

Do not host your artwork on a site where it can easily be deleted, requires special access, or uses a link that can be broken.

In addition to your entry for the BB, each team requires a banner, which you will submit to us via the Masterpost Information Form.

Please follow the guidelines below when creating your banner:

• The banner must be Safe For Work (SFW).


• The banner must be 580px wide and 200px tall or a higher resolution image with the same dimensions (e.g. 1160:400) so that when resized it won't be squished. Please note that the mods will crop your image to size if it is sent incorrectly.


• The banner can be a SFW crop of the artwork or a specially made banner for the accompanying fic.


• The banner can include such details as fic title(s) and team member usernames


• The person in charge of the filling out the Masterpost Information Form must provide a direct image link of the banner.

Important tip: If you have created a draft of your work, change the date before you click post, otherwise your AO3 posting date will be the date you created your draft and readers looking at the feed by date might not see it.

FILLING OUT YOUR MASTERPOST INFORMATION FORM

On your chosen posting day, ONE member from your entire team is required to send through your team's links and posting information by filling out the Masterpost Information Form by noon ET so that mods can create your Team Masterpost.

Each team is expected to coordinate internally. Please make sure that you have collected all the information necessary to fill out the Form.

The Masterpost Information Form will ask you for:

• Direct image URL to team banner


• Preferred usernames for all team members


• Fic summary


• Word count of fic/length of podfic/length of fanvid


• Rating of works


• Warnings for works


• AO3 links to all works


• Optional additional links to crossposts


• Tags for your masterpost, including Dreamwidth username tags

You can find all of the community's existing tags here, and the relevant tag options (universe and genre) will also be provided in the Masterpost Information Form for you to choose from.

Important tip: If you have created a draft of your AO3 work, its link will be the same as when you publish it. This means that you can pass on your AO3 link to the person filling out the Masterpost Information Form before you publish your work on the posting day.

Please remember to fill out our Masterpost Information Form by noon ET of your posting day

Your team's masterpost will then be published on your behalf using the cap-ironman event mod account on our cap_ironman Dreamwidth community and our main Tumblr.

CROSSPOSTS

If you'd like to share your work on other social media platforms, please indicate that it is a work for the Cap-Iron Man Big Bang challenge and link to your partner's work(s) in the post.

If posting on Tumblr, be sure to @ cap-ironman and use #capimbb or #capimbb2021 within the first 5 tags so the mods will be able to find it, or email us a rebloggable link to guarantee that it'll be reblogged. Please note that we'll be queueing the posts as we see them, so it may take a couple of days for them to be shared on our blog. If your post features art, we will only reblog SFW (safe for work) posts: we encourage you to post a 'safe for work' crop with a link or cut to the full version.

Remember this is a collaborative event; we will not reblog Big Bang posts that do not link to their companion work(s).

EXTENSIONS

We strongly urge you to make sure that you are finished and ready to post before your posting date. If you cannot make your posting date for any reason, please let us know as soon as possible! We will work with you; please don't just disappear.

Should you need an extension, email us at least 24 hours before your posting date. You must be confident that you will be able to finish your work with an extension. The extension will apply to your entire team.

We understand that due to unexpected issues, you may need to ask for an extension. If that becomes the case, please include the following in your email to the mods:

• The writer's current word count and a percentage for how much of the fic is still incomplete, or the percentage of how complete the artwork is.


• An estimation of how much time your team needs to be able to post. Please note that small edits for typos and such can be done after your posting date, but you do need to post a finished product.


• The reason your team is asking for an extension. This helps to contextualise your situation and will also aid mods in planning future events.

Please note that your team cannot ask for an indefinite extension, and only one extension will be granted per team, so make sure you are as clear as possible about how much time you will need to finish.

If you fail to contact us and do not work with your partner(s) to post on time, you will be considered a defaulting participant, and the penalty for this is a year-long ban from all collaborative and exchange events run by the Cap-IM community. This penalty will only apply to the defaulting member of the team, not the team as a whole. For details check our Defaulting Guidelines.

Extra works will only be included in the Challenge Masterlist if posted before the end of the Reverse Bang posting period, and a link must be sent to mods so that the works can be added easily.

This year, we're starting out a mandatory banner requirement for each Reverse Bang entry. While it is optional to have the art banner in your own Dreamwidth masterpost, you must email a RBB banner for your entry to cap.im.events@gmail.com on your posting date. This will be used in our Challenge Masterlist when we post a round up of everyone's works for this year's challenge.

Please follow the guidelines below when sending us your art banner:

1. The banner must be Safe For Work (SFW).

On your chosen posting day, ONE member from your entire team is required to make a masterpost to the main Dreamwidth community. Artists, if your fic was claimed twice by two different writers, you will be expected to coordinate with them both and include all works in the masterpost.

On your chosen posting day, after everyone has posted their respective works,one member from your team must create a masterpost to the main Cap-Iron Man comm by filling in one of the following form templates, then pasting it as an HTML Dreamwidth post and posting to the community. If there is more than one art file, add links as necessary.

If your team consists of an artist and one writer, please title your post "Cap-IM RBB 2019 Team [YOUR TEAM NAME]: [YOUR TITLE]" and use the following form:

Please tag your masterpost appropriately on the cap_ironman comm with the following: challenge: reverse bang, fanart, fanfic, genre, rating, universe and all team members' usernames. Usernames are in the format x: USERNAMEHERE. If someone on your team doesn’t have a tag yet, please let the mods know so we can add it!

In case none of your team members have a Dreamwidth account, you can either set one up and make your own masterpost, or you can contact the Reverse Bang mod team by emailing cap.im.events@gmail.com and send them the required information before your posting date. Your masterpost will then be published on your behalf using the mod account.

CROSSPOSTS

The posting period of RBB approaches!

Your art or fic should be finished and ready to post by your chosen posting date. Remember that if you're in a team with two writers, you should both post with your artist on the same day, unless someone requested an extension.

Each participating author and artist will upload their own fic/artwork individually. Authors, please remember to link the art that inspired you, artists - please include the link to the fic written for you in your artpost. This is a collab event. The important part is to work together and inspire each other. Please acknowledge that at the time of posting and thank your teammate :)

The fics should be posted on AO3 or LJ/DW in an unlocked post (do not use tumblr as your primary fic hosting site).

Art should be posted on a site allowing anyone to view it without registration (tumblr, unlocked LJ/DW posts, AO3, etc.). If you post on tumblr, please include the direct link to the image as well so that it's accessible even if you change your username. You can get the direct link by right-clicking on the image and choosing the "copy image location" option in Firefox or "copy image address" in Google Chrome. Also, if you're an artist, please prepare your art's thumbnail (to include in the masterpost). Please also keep the thumbnails safe for work and under 600px wide.

If you're posting to AO3, there is a Captain America/Iron Man Reverse Bang 2018 collection open. You can add your RBB work there (either by choosing "Post to Collection" from the collection page or by putting "cap_ironman_2018_RBB" in the "Post to Collections/Challenges" field if you post normally).

We will be reblogging all the artposts for the challenge posted to tumblr, as long as they're safe for work, include the link to the accompanying fic, and are tagged with #capimrbb in one of the first five tags.

Big Bang posting has begun! It's time to go over instructions for how the posting will work.

Have your completed fic and art formatted and ready to post by your selected posting date.

Each participating writer and artist will upload their own fic/art individually. For long term accessibility reasons we require the finished fic be hosted on AO3 (probably the most convenient) or LJ/DW. Do not use tumblr as your primary fic hosting site. For art, we prefer one of the usual image hosting sites (deviantart, flickr, photobucket, private server, etc) but tumblr is allowed if a direct link to the image file is provided in the community masterpost as well.

If you need to make an AO3 account, please request an invite here and keep in mind that it might take a few days for you to get it and be able to create the account. If you run into trouble, contact us, asap! Be sure to add your works to the 2016 Captain America/Iron Man Big Bang collection if you are using AO3.

On your chosen posting day, ONE member from your team is required to make a masterpost to the main comm here on livjournal using the following form:

Please tag your masterpost with the following: challenge: big bang, fanart, fanfic, genre, rating, universe and all team members' usernames. Usernames are in the format x: USERNAMEHERE. If someone on your team doesn't have a tag, please make a note of it in the text of your masterpost.

In case that none of your team members have a Livejournal account, you can either very easily set one up and make your master post OR you can contact the Big Bang mod team before your posting date, send them the required information and one of us will make the post on your behalf using the cap_ironman_fe account.

Regarding Upcoming Date Claims

We have been getting questions about posting dates for the Big Bang, so just to reassure everyone:

There will be a post up this Saturday, 31st October, where you can pick a date. One date per team, so coordinate who does the claiming. (Even if you were assigned two artists all three of you post on the same day. Only one date needs to be claimed.)

The post will have all instructions needed. Post is expected to go up on 21:00 (UTC time). (When is that for me?)
