The posting period for the 2020 Cap-IM Reverse Bang will soon be upon us!

Reverse Bang artworks and accompanying stories should be completed, formatted, and ready to post in full by your posting date.

Each participating artist and writer will upload their own fic or art individually. We require you to link to your partner's work when your team has posted, and it's courteous to acknowledge the hard work they've put into this collaboration!

All works must be posted on your scheduled posting date by midnight, Pacific Standard Time. If something comes up, contact the mods and we'll be able to make arrangements to ensure your work is posted on time. A challenge-fulfilling fic should be posted all at once, and it should be complete as a stand-alone. Anything extra a participant might want to post after their posting date can be done at their own leisure. Extra works will only be included in the Challenge Masterlist if posted before the end of the Reverse Bang posting period, and a link must be sent to mods so that the works can be added easily.

Posting Day Checklist:
  1. Post your completed work to AO3 (both art and fic!).

  2. Add your work to our 2020 Cap-IM RBB collection (alternatively, post directly to the collection).

  3. Optional cross-posting to other platforms.

  4. Add links to your team's work(s) once they too have posted.

  5. Submit your DW masterpost to the cap-ironman community.

  6. Email cap.im.events@gmail.com with your SFW art banner (580px wide and 200px tall or a higher resolution image with the same dimensions, e.g. 1160:400) for the Challenge Masterlist.

POSTING YOUR WORK

ARCHIVE OF OUR OWN

All works are required to be posted as unlocked works AO3 for longevity and accessibility reasons.

Here are some options commonly used when posting a Reverse Bang collaboration:
  • Inspired By — The artist creates an AO3 work for their artwork, and the writer posts their fic to AO3 as a work inspired by the art. This is a good option if your team prefers not to embed the artwork into the story.

  • Co-Authors — Creating a single AO3 work with both the artist and writer listed as co-authors, with the artwork embedded into the story. This doesn't work as well for teams that have 2 writers posting.

  • Author's Note — The artist and the writer(s) link to each other's works at the top of their AO3 work and describe the association in their own words without using an AO3 function (or in addition to it).

If you need to make an AO3 account, please request an invite here and keep in mind that it might take a few days for you to get it and be able to create the account. If you run into trouble, contact the mods at cap.im.events@gmail.com ASAP so we can sort out an invite.

When posting your work onto AO3, be sure that it is in our 2020 Captain America/Iron Man Reverse Bang collection. You can do this by either posting the work directly to the collection, or by manually adding "cap_ironman_2020_RBB" in the Post to Collection / Challenges field in the Associations section when posting your draft. Do not worry if the collection does not appear as an option in the AO3 dropdown menu (this is a common glitch); simply add the collection manually and your work will appear.

For help on AO3 posting, from embedding images to posting in a collection, please check our AO3 Guide for Cap-Iron Man Events.

Writers, please be aware that depending on the writing program you are using, your word count may be different from AO3's when posting. Mods will be going by AO3 for the 5,000 word minimum, so make sure your fic meets that requirement.

Important tip: if you have created a draft of your fic, please make sure that you change the date to your posting date before you click post, otherwise your AO3 posting date will be the date you created your draft and readers looking at the feed by date might not see it.

ARTISTS:

In addition to your art entry for the RBB, each team requires a banner. While it is optional to have the art banner in your own Dreamwidth masterpost, you must email a RBB banner for your entry to cap.im.events@gmail.com on your posting date. This will be used in our Challenge Masterlist when we post a round up of everyone's works for this year's challenge.

Please follow the guidelines below when sending us your banner:
  1. The banner must be Safe For Work (SFW).

  2. The banner must be 580px wide and 200px tall or a higher resolution image with the same dimensions (e.g. 1160:400) so that when resized it won't be squished. Please note that the mods will crop your image to size if it is sent incorrectly.

  3. The banner can be a SFW crop of the artwork which includes title(s), writer(s) and artist, or a specially made banner for the accompanying fic.

  4. Each team's artist, or the person in charge of the DW masterpost, must send us their art banner by midnight PST of their posting date.

POSTING THE DW MASTERPOST (REQUIRED)

On your chosen posting day, ONE member from your entire team is required to make a masterpost to the main Dreamwidth community. Artists, if your art was claimed twice by two different writers, you will be expected to coordinate with them both and include all works in the masterpost.

On your chosen posting day, after everyone has posted their respective works, one member from your team must create a masterpost to the main Cap-Iron Man comm by filling in one of the following form templates, then pasting it as an HTML Dreamwidth post and posting to the community. If there is more than one art file, add links as necessary.

If your team consists of an artist and one writer, please title your post "Cap-IM RBB 2020 Team [YOUR TEAM NAME]: [YOUR TITLE]" and use the following form:

If you're in a team with two writers working with one artist, please title your post "Cap-IM RBB 2020 Team [YOUR TEAM NAME]: [YOUR TITLE]" and use the following form:

Please tag your masterpost appropriately on the [personal profile] cap_ironman_fe comm with the following: challenge: reverse bang, fanart, fanfic, genre, rating, universe and all team members' usernames. Usernames are in the format x: USERNAMEHERE. If someone on your team doesn’t have a tag yet, please let the mods know so we can add it!

You can find all of the community's existing tags here and additional posting guidelines if needed.

In case none of your team members have a Dreamwidth account, you can either set one up and make your own masterpost, or you can contact the Reverse Bang mod team by emailing cap.im.events@gmail.com and send them the required information before your posting date. Your masterpost will then be published on your behalf using the mod account.

CROSSPOSTS

If you'd like to share your fic or art on other social media platforms (eg: Twitter, Dreamwidth, Pillowfort, Tumblr etc.), please make sure to indicate that it is a work for the Cap-Iron Man Reverse Bang Challenge and link to your partner's work(s) in the post.

If posting on Tumblr, be sure to tag your post with #capimrbb or #capimrbb2020 within the first 5 tags so the mods will be able to find it, or email us a rebloggable link to guarantee that it will be reblogged. Please note that we'll be queueing the posts as we see them, so it may take a couple of days for them to be shared on our blog. If your post features art, we will only reblog SFW (safe for work) posts: we encourage you to post a 'safe for work' crop or your art banner with a link or cut to the full version.

Remember this is a collaborative event; we will not reblog Reverse Bang works that do not link to the accompanying fic or art.

EXTENSIONS

We strongly urge you to make sure that you are finished and ready to post before your posting date. If you cannot make your posting date for any reason, please let us know! We will work with you; please don't just disappear. Should you need an extension, email us at least 24 hours before your posting date. You must be confident that you will be able to finish your work with an extension, as you will only be allowed one extension. The extension will apply to your entire team.

We understand that due to unexpected issues, you may need to ask for an extension. If that becomes the case, please include the following:

  • The writer's current word count and a percentage for how much of the fic is still incomplete. This is so that we are aware of how far you have to go, and whether you've met the required minimum word count of 5,000 words.

  • An estimation of how much time your team needs to be able to post. Please note that small edits for typos and such can be done after your posting date, but you do need to post a finished product.

  • The reason your team is asking for an extension. This helps to contextualise your situation and will also aid mods in planning future events.

Please note that your team cannot ask for an indefinite extension, and only one extension will be granted per team, so make sure you are as clear as possible about how much time you will need to finish.

If you fail to contact us and do not work with your partner(s) to post on time, you will be considered as a defaulting participant, and the penalty for this is a year-long ban from all collaborative and exchange events run by the Cap-IM community. This penalty will only apply to the defaulting member of the team, not the team as a whole.

If you have any questions or concerns, please let us know by emailing cap.im.events@gmail.com.

Reverse Bang Date Claims are OPEN.

Remember that if no one on your team is available to claim a date, you can ask someone else to proxy-claim for you!

IMPORTANT INFORMATION

By claiming a posting date, you are committing to having your work complete and ready for posting by the date you have picked. If your team does not claim a date by 27th April, 18:00 EST, we'll assume your team can reasonably post on any date, and will assign your team to a date accordingly. If you have any special requests, please get in touch with cap.im.events@gmail.com as soon as possible so we can try to accommodate you (please note that we cannot guarantee anything, and will consider requests on a first-come, first-serve basis).

If all team members are unable to be present when posting date claims open and are concerned that you may miss out on your preferred dates, please ask a proxy to submit a claim on your behalf. Proxies simply need to enter your team CODENAME when they claim for you. If you are unable to find a proxy, please email the mods at cap.im.events@gmail.com and we will try to organise a proxy who will claim on your behalf.

We strongly encourage all participants to meet their posting deadline, and only ask for an extension as a final resort. If you believe you won't be able to finish your work by your posting date, please communicate your concerns with your partner(s) and the mods as soon as possible. You can find all extension information in our Posting Instructions post.

Incomplete works, failure to meet the deadline, or a complete lack of communication on and after your posting date will result in a ban. Bans are done individually and not as a team; participants who have completed their event work will not be held responsible for the actions of their partner(s). For further details on bans, read through the Defaulting and Participation Eligibility policies.

HOW TO CLAIM YOUR DATE

30 posting dates are available from May 1 to May 31. Your posting team is determined by the artist's CODENAME as given to you in the RBB matching email. Please note that there are two slots available for every date, so a maximum of two teams (with a possible 4 fics) will post per day.

Before choosing the posting dates you will list, please make sure it will work for everyone on the team. If you have multiple partners (if a work was double claimed), you are required to have all the works posted on the same date by midnight PST. This means that if an artist is working with two writers, they will both post their fics on the same day.

Posting date claims will be run via a Google Form on a first come, first-served basis. You will be emailed a link to the Claims Form, as well as a link to the live spreadsheet that will show the timestamps of when the posting date claims forms were received, for transparency.
  • 3-5 posting dates will be listed by each Reverse Bang team, in order of preference.

  • Posting dates will be allocated in the order that forms are received.

  • Teams that submit forms where all dates listed have already been picked will be asked to resubmit.

  • If your team has special requirements to due participant schedules, you must contact the event mods via email at cap.im.events@gmail.com before April 24th. The mods will do their best to be accommodating but cannot guarantee that all requests will be able to be filled. Requests will be considered on a first come, first serve basis.

Remember, only one person needs to claim on behalf of their team.

Please find the Posting Date Claims Form here. It will open on Saturday, 25th April, 18:00 EST (what time is this for me?) and close on 27th April, 18:00 EST.

Please find the spreadsheet for viewing live claims here.

On April 27th, teams will receive an email with their finalised posting date and additional information regarding their deadline.

To those unfamiliar with the concept, second claims are when entries in the Reverse Bang are made available to be claimed again by a second writer, resulting in teams of one artist and two writers. Unlike the first round of claims, however, second claims are completely optional and not all the artworks are guaranteed to be claimed again.

We encourage all writers who missed the first round of claims to join in and participate in the second round! For the first part of second claims, only writers who have not yet joined the Reverse Bang are allowed to claim an artwork.

Writers who have already claimed an entry in round one will be invited to claim a second artwork 2 hours later, on Monday 17th February 14:00 UTC (what time is that for me?). We ask that they do not try to claim a second artwork before this time, in order to make the process more equitable. We welcome writers signing up twice, but when considering whether to make a second claim or not, we ask that they consider their time carefully and accord their second artwork with the same amount of enthusiasm and respect as the first.

Remember, art claims are meant to be anonymous, so please refrain from discussing who the artwork belongs to!

This is the SECOND CLAIMS phase of the Reverse Bang, where all art pieces that are available to be claimed by a second writer are up for claiming again! An amazing 29 art entries are available this round and awaiting writers to claim them. By claiming an artwork, you assert that you will collaborate with your artist(s) to produce a custom fanfic to accompany their artwork when posting begins in May. There is no penalty-free dropping out after this point. You do not need to be a member of the [community profile] cap_ironman community or have a Dreamwidth account to make your claim. Anonymous comments on this post are enabled (commenting will open when the claiming phase begins).

The art previews are underneath a cut in the next part of the post. Please note that some of them might be NOT SAFE FOR WORK; view at your own discretion.

Your schedule:
  • From Saturday, February 15th, 18:00 EST (what time is this for me?): Claims begin, and writers choose the artwork(s) they would like to write fic for

  • February-April: Writers write! Artists put finishing touches on their work, create a team banner, and can decide to create additional artwork(s) for their collaboration(s).

  • Saturday, April 24th, 18:00 EST (what time is this for me?): Teams select their May posting dates

  • Friday, May 1st: Posting begins!

A recap on some of the main rules:
  1. Please remember to read through our General Event Policies and the Reverse Bang Event Guidelines for all participants, as well as the Writers’ Guidelines for this year’s challenge before going on to claim any art.

  2. Each creator may participate in the 2020 RBB a maximum of two times, either by submitting 2 distinct artworks to be claimed, by claiming 2 different artworks as a writer (if second claims go forward), or by submitting one artwork and claiming another as a writer.

  3. If you sign up as a writer, you are required to write a completely new companion fic of at least 5,000 words to accompany your assigned artist's artwork.

  4. This is a collaborative challenge; you are all expected to keep in touch with your team for the duration of the challenge. You must coordinate with your partner during the posting period.

  5. All participants must be 18 or older.

Please follow the claiming instructions below. Make sure you ONLY choose art that you want to write for. Please be aware that by signing up now you are fully committing to the challenge.

The ANY universe label means the artist is happy with receiving a fic set in any Marvel universe. Please don't choose art set in a universe you're unfamiliar with or unwilling to write.

Claiming Instructions

To claim a summary on February 17th, you will need to leave a comment with the following information (just copy and paste into a comment, then add your own details):

We recommend that you pick two or three options as we cannot guarantee that you will get your first choice. However, you may include more if you wish or list just one choice if there is only one artwork you are interested in. Remember that you are signing up for a collaborative event—please do not list art codenames that you would not be genuinely happy to work with.

Claims will be made on a first-come, first-served basis and you will be assigned the first option that is still available in your list. You may only claim once during Round 1, and you will be assigned a single art entry—this is to give everyone who can't be there for claims opening a chance. Second claims will first be open to anyone who hasn't claimed yet. When the Second Claims post opens for Double Claims anyone who has already claimed one entry can claim a second one. Artists, remember that writers have different schedules and timezones, and that though we try to accommodate everyone, your art may not be claimed in the first few hours. Please be patient, and don’t look at claims as a competition. This challenge is about pairing like-minded creators who will work together to produce exciting new Steve/Tony content; sometimes it takes a while for the right person to come along!

Writers, if the claim time is inconvenient for you, we encourage you to find someone who will put in a claim for you by proxy. All your proxy has to do is comment on the claims post instead of you when the time comes, providing your username, email and claims as set out above in this post. If you do not already know someone who can do this for you, you can email the mod team (cap.im.events@gmail.com) for assistance in finding a proxy.

When matching is complete, we will send out emails to connect artists with their writers, along with further instructions. This might take a while, as making a mistake at this crucial stage is something everyone would like to avoid; please don’t panic if you don’t receive an email immediately. NOTE: After you receive the email, PLEASE RESPOND DIRECTLY CONFIRMING you have received the information. Please wait until you have replied to this email before contacting your partner. After confirming the assignment email has been received, it is the artists’ and writers’ responsibilities to open communications with team members and keep in touch for the duration of the collaboration.

And finally to the exciting part—the art!

2020 Cap-Iron Man Reverse Big Bang

Guidelines for Writers

  • Remember to read through our General Event Policies and Guidelines for All Participants, as well as the writers' guidelines outlined below.

  • You will be writing a companion fic to accompany your assigned artist's artwork(s), and this fic must be newly created. Your fic must be a self-contained story written specifically and exclusively for the Reverse Bang based on or inspired by the artwork that you claim.

  • You can sign up alone or as part of an author team (the minimum word count remains the same).

  • Completed Reverse Bang stories must be a minimum of 5,000 words. There is no upper word limit, but fic can’t be a work-in-progress at the time of posting.

  • By claiming an artwork you are commiting to finishing by your posting date.

Claiming Process

To participate in the 2020 Cap-Iron Man Reverse Bang as a writer, all you need to do is claim an artwork on Saturday, February 15th. There is no prior sign-up available or required.

If you would like to write a fic in a language other than English, you must claim artwork where the artist has stated that they are happy to receive an accompanying fic in that language.

  • Claims will be done on a first-come, first-serve basis.

  • In case you can't make a claim personally on Saturday, February 15th, you are allowed to ask someone to make a claim on your behalf (a proxy claim). There is no need to have an Dreamwidth or OpenID account to make a claim or proxy claim for someone, as anonymous commenting will be enabled.

  • Artworks are posted anonymously. You must claim artwork based solely on the submission and details provided.

  • Instructions on how to claim artwork will go up with the preview of art entries on February 13th.

  • Because this is a collaborative event, there is no penalty free dropping out once you've claimed a work. Dropping out once you've been partnered up will be considered defaulting on the challenge and will result in a ban.

To see information on the new way that posting date claims will run, please check this post.

Creation Period and Posting

Once you have claimed a piece of art and you've been teamed up with your artist, all that's left is to write your RBB fic! Please remember to keep in touch with your partner(s) and keep track of time as you write. The posting period begins in May, and mods will be in touch before then with instructions on how to claim a posting date and post your work.

Check out our REVERSE BANG FAQ POST for more information.

2020 Cap-Iron Man Reverse Big Bang

Guidelines for Artists

  • Remember to read through our General Event Policies and Guidelines for All Participants, as well as the artists' guidelines outlined below.

  • Art must focus on Steve and Tony. As per the community guidelines, a primary non-Steve/Tony relationship or moresome involving other characters is not allowed. Moresomes involving multiple versions of Steve or Tony are welcome. Art may depict Steve or Tony separately, but please recognize that this is a Steve/Tony event.

  • Acceptable artwork submission(s) are traditional and digital art. Other visual media—such as edits, manipulations, fanmixes, or works that rely on or are derivative of existing material—are not eligible for this Reverse Bang.

  • Art must be created solely for the Reverse Bang and should not have been previously posted anywhere. It will be acting as a prompt for your claiming writers, so should be self-contained. Art can be based in any universe you like, whether it is a universe from the Marvel canon, an AU, a fusion, or set in an ambiguous universe.

  • An entry may consist of a single image, a multipanel work, or a series of sequential images. Sequential or multipanel artworks are permitted as long as they do not have large amounts of text (textless entries work best) and do not have an excessive number of images.

  • To fulfill your part in the challenge, you are committing to finish the artwork(s) you submitted for claims and an additional team banner for the team Masterpost. After claims, you are welcome to create additional collaborative artworks for your team entry.

  • Participants can submit works in progress and sketches for claims, but all final artwork(s) need to be complete and ready for posting by your team’s posting date.

  • There is no penalty-free dropping out after your summary has been claimed by a writer.

  • As you're working on your submission(s), please keep in mind that artworks are posted anonymously during claims (see the Claiming Process section), and we urge you to be tactful during the pre-claim period.

If you don’t have an idea for an entry yet, you might want to check out our Prompt Post and browse the ideas that people are interested in seeing. We also invite you to make use of our Creator's Workshop posts. Additionally, mods will be posting inspiration posts on the [tumblr.com profile] cap-ironman Tumblr throughout the creation period.

Art Submission Requirements

To officially enter the 2020 Reverse Big Bang, simply submit an art entry that is at minimum one piece of art at any time from now until submissions close at the end of Wednesday, February 12th (on the last timezone).

All participating art must be submitted to cap.im.events@gmail.com by the February 12th submission deadline.

Art does not need to be finished during the submission period. You can send in works in progress and sketches, but characters must be recognizable without labels. Each entry must speak for itself, as artists will not have the opportunity to explain their work prior to claims. Please keep in mind that Reverse Bang artworks serve as prompts and inspiration for writers, so we encourage you to submit works that set a scene.

To submit your entry, send an email to cap.im.events@gmail.com with "2020 RBB ENTRY" and the username you want to sign up with as the subject line. Don't forget to attach your art file in a .JPG or .PNG format. Please also name your file to include your username.

In the body of your email, include the following information:

Please note that if you say "any", you must be happy with a fic from ANY of the Marvel universes (including but not limited to 1602, 1872, 616, AA, AvAc, EMH, MCU etc.) and that your artwork must be able to match any universe. If your art is set in a specific era of a universe, please make sure to specify this. Similarly, if you do not want your art to be accompanied by a story that is an alternate universe inspired by a canon, please state this.

Please note that anything that you do not mention as a DNW will be fair game. For example, if you dislike soulmate AUs but did not put down "soulmates" as a DNW in your sign-up email, then your claiming writer can write a soulmate AU, and it will be up to you to negotiate with them.

Because this is a collaborative event, there is no penalty-free dropping out after your artwork(s) is claimed. If you run into trouble let us know as soon as possible; we'll see what we can do. If you need to drop out, you must do so before Saturday, February 15th; dropping out after your work has been claimed will be considered defaulting on the challenge and will result in a temporary ban from some Cap-IM events.

Claiming Process

After you submit your entry and it's been approved by the mods, it will be available for claims on Saturday, February 15th. Claims are done anonymously. Writers will be claiming art based solely on the artwork and additional details you have provided. Out of fairness to all participant and stories, please don't advertise which artwork(s) is yours. We don’t allow pre-formed teams, and we expect all participants to be open to working with new people.

If claims go quickly, a second round of claims may be opened to give more writers a chance to participate. This means that your RBB art will potentially be 'double claimed'—claimed by two writers—and you'll be coordinating with two partners. If you'd like to opt out of having your work double claimed, please let the mods know when you submit your artwork.

To see information on the new way that posting date claims will run, please check this post.

Creation Period and Posting

Once your work has been claimed and you've been teamed up with a writer, all that's left is to finish your RBB work(s)! If you have been double claimed, keep both stories in mind if you decide to make supplementary work. The posting period begins in May, and mods will be in touch before then with instructions on how to claim a posting date and post your entry. Remember to keep in touch with the rest of your team!

Please note:We require that the finished artwork(s) are submitted to our event collection on AO3. If you need to make an AO3 account, please request an invite here and keep in mind that it might take a few days for you to get it and be able to create the account.

Before inserting an image into your work, please note that AO3 does not host images; this means you cannot upload an image directly to AO3. Instead you must upload it elsewhere and retrieve a direct image link once you do. (A direct image URL ends in .jpg, .png, .gif, etc.) We advise using a free image uploading service such as Imgur, or even using Dreamwidth's file uploading service (but please keep in mind that you have limited space on DW). We strongly encourage you not to host your image on Tumblr, as these links are liable to break. For more information about embedding art into AO3, please see our AO3 Guide for Cap-IM Events.

2020 Cap-Iron Man Reverse Big Bang

Welcome to a new round of the [community profile] cap_ironman Reverse Bang! Running since 2010, the Captain America/Iron Man Reverse Bang invites the community's artists to create new Steve/Tony artworks and challenges writers to create fanfiction prompted by an artist's work.

What's a Reverse Bang?
A reverse bang (a.k.a. reverse big bang or RBB) is a collaborative event between artists and writers, meant to encourage the creation of new fanart and accompanying fic. Opposite to the big bang challenge, artists submit art entries which are then claimed by writers who each create a story inspired by their claim.

How does it work?
During the art submission period, artists will sign up for the Reverse Bang by submitting their artwork drafts following the Artists' Guidelines. We will accept any Steve/Tony art submission that has recognizable characters—the art doesn't have to be 100% complete to be sent in!

During the claims phase, all art entries will be assigned a code name and posted anonymously. Writers will then claim the artwork(s) for which they want to create an accompanying story for. There is no formal sign-up for writers; all participants need to do is to claim artwork during the claims period.

During the collaborative phase, writers and artists can work together as much or as little as they want to brainstorm ideas and cheer each other on, making sure to keep in regular contact with each other. We'd like to remind you that the Reverse Bang is not about a fic being "commissioned" to the exact specifications of the artist, but about writers being inspired by the art that is claimed.

During the posting phase, teams will post their completed fanworks, including a team banner, on the same day. At the end of the challenge, mods will prepare a Masterlist of all created works.

What does the collaboration involve?
Every collaboration will be different — that's part of the beauty of signing up as a writer or claiming a fic as an artist! The Reverse Bang is a fun new opportunity to create wonderful Steve/Tony artwork and accompanying fanfics, and have a fantastic time working together to various degrees. The level of communication and collaboration between team members is to be negotiated amongst themselves, but at minimum all participants must communicate clearly with their partners during the important stages of the challenge such as before date claims and posting, and let partners know if there will be times when they are uncontactable. It's crucial to be able to compromise and take each other's feelings into account.

When it comes to posting, your entire team will do so on the same day following the posting instructions sent to you. As part of the challenge, team members will acknowledge their partner(s)' hard work and creations. It is a requirement that all embedded work is credited, and that all team members are recognised equally.

I want to create an artwork but I don't know what to art.
Never fear, the community is here! Check out our Prompt Post. You can also drop off your own prompts if you want.

So, now that you’re convinced that participating is a fantastic idea, read on for some very important logistical information…

Guidelines for All Participants

  • Please read through the General Event Policies and the following rules below carefully before submitting your work. Works that do not abide by the Event Work Requirements will not be accepted.

  • You must read all of the guidelines carefully. You are responsible for reading and understanding all of the guidelines listed below.

  • All participants must be 18 or older.

  • This challenge is run by the [community profile] cap_ironman community and it's a Steve/Tony fest, so we're looking for art and fic with a focus on the relationship between Steve Rogers and Tony Stark in any context (platonic or romantic) and in any setting or continuity you can think of.

  • Each creator may submit a total of two distinct works to the event (in any combination of art and fic).

  • We don't allow pre-formed teams or tandem sign-ups, and we expect all participants to be open to working with new people. We also can't guarantee that a particular author and artist will be paired together as the claiming process is partially anonymous and first-come, first-serve. When you sign-up, be open to work constructively with anyone.

  • This is a collaborative fest: you are expected to keep in touch with your team for the duration of the fest. You must coordinate with your partner during the posting period.

  • Works need to be complete and ready for posting by your team’s posting date.

  • Detailed date claiming and posting instructions will be communicated to participants closer to the deadline. Even if you finish early, do not post your work or any portion of it anywhere before the posting date. Doing so will disqualify you from the Reverse Bang.

If you're signing up as an artist, please read through the GUIDELINES FOR ARTISTS page for information on draft submissions and more.
If you'd like to claim artwork and join as a writer, please read through the GUIDELINES FOR WRITERS page for information on the claiming process and more.
Check out our REVERSE BANG FAQ POST for more information.

Please note: For long term accessibility reasons, we require both writers and artists to have an AO3 account. You are responsible for posting your finished work(s) to our AO3 collection upon your team's posting date. If you need to make an AO3 account, please request an invite here and keep in mind that it might take a few days for you to get it and be able to create the account.

After all claimed creators have been teamed up, the RBB mods will be sending out additional information and event updates via email, in addition to posting on the [community profile] c_im_bigbang community. Please make sure that you check your email regularly once you've joined the event.

If you need a space to talk about your progress, ask questions, look for resources, or more, check out the Creator's Workshop post, which is open 24/7 - no need to have a Dreamwidth account to comment! It's a long creating period from now until May, and the key is to keep motivated and have a great time throughout the challenge.

The Reverse Bang mods will also be running a chat every weekend (specific times to be announced) before the RBB art claims on February 15th, as well as some chats during the collaboration period. These will all be hosted on Discord, and limited-time invites will be emailed to participants and publicised on our community platforms.

If you have any questions, they may already be answered in our General Event Policies page. If you have any further questions, feel free to contact the RBB mods at cap.im.events@gmail.com!
