Big Bang 2016 - Support and Chatter #11

Time for another support and chatter post. So how has everyone been doing with their projects? And breakthroughs during the last week? Got stuck on a terribly important scene? Making good progress?

A new TRB art prompt is up, too, if you are still waiting for inspiration to strike.

Remember that we do not have an official sign-up period and for that reason do not do official and mandatory check-ins. You don't need to check-in below and talk about your progress to play, but if you want to talk or seek support from others you can. (And it's fun!) As long as you get in a draft before September 28th you’re signed-up for this Big Bang. That date is still a long way away and so we invite you to seek support from fellow writers, artists and Steve/Tony lovers in our weekly "Support and Chatter" posts.

We have a prompt post open here, where you can leave prompts for others or go looking for ideas at any time. Older prompt posts are also still visible and ideas there might inspire you.

So thanks to Marvel (Civil Warrior), I revisited the characters to my planned fic because of the angst potential it brought with Tony as an A.I. watching his Steve with another Tony, Broken!Steve post Civil War jumping at a second chance with a Tony, MCU!Tony post CA:CW living under not his father's ghost, but his own (but he can't help giving into a version of Steve who seems to just understand him) on top of the intended MCU!Steve getting irrationally jealous of another version of himself.

I ended up scraping most of what I wrote and keeping the bare bones/strong lines ;.; and am now taking a break from writing it (instead just adding scenes/lines as they come to me for the time being)

Anyone else shifting gears with their prompts/feel annoyed about it?

Oh, man, I really like the "second chance with a {Steve/Tony} but NOT MINE" trope so much; I'm excited to see what you make of that.

Mine just keeps getting more complicated as I plan it, but that's really not a surprise with me...

I got inspired by the not so strict sign up process and the 25k limit, so I am thinking on writing for the BB. :) I was thinking something set in post-WWII Noir, or maybe making Steve a soldier from WWI who wakes up from the ice in the Noirverse timeline. Since there isn't an Avengers team in Noir, I'm curious over how Steve will cope, how he deals with being a man out of time without the Avengers as a support system and distraction. Since Steve doesn't exist in Noir, for angst reasons in fic it could be that people have moved on and don't need him anymore. I'm not certain yet what Tony will be doing though. It'd be cool to write about one of his Marvels quests. Also, I'd love to work in Matt Murdock and Luke Cage.

That sounds cool. Maybe Steve gets mixed up in a crime and is arrested. Matt is his lawyer and Tony gets involved because he thinks Steve might know something about his next quest after reading about the case in the paper or something. Maybe throw in some identity porn with no one knowing Steve is Captain America.

I love Noir so much, as you probably already know, and this sounds great! Especially because I rarely see Noir fic with the other Marvel Noir characters -- I know that there were Daredevil Noir and Luke Cage Noir series too, but I... haven't read any of the Noir series that weren't Iron Man, ha. Or are you thinking of just writing your own take on them?

YESSSSSS! I agree with the other commenters here, please write all the Noir! There aren't nearly enough of us writing for this awesome 'verse. And since there isn't that much Noir canon, it leaves a lot of leeway for your own interpretations. WWI-soldier!Steve, post-WWII-Cap!Steve, skinny!Steve - so many lovely Steves to pick from! A Steve that has been forgotten and isn't needed anymore, I think, could be an interesting angle that I really haven't seen. I also don't think there's very much fic with Matt and Luke, so definitely go for it!

I FINISHED MY OUTLINE! *dances* \o/

This is like from some romantic author's autobiography, but seriously, I went to sleep last night despairing over how the entire middle part of my story was still one huge gap (while the beginning and the end have been set for a over a month), had adventurous mountaineering Noir dreams all night long, woke up, and knew exactly what was missing. Was quite late to work because I had to jot it down, of course, but now I have an outline! Whew. This makes me very happy <3

Ahhh, some seven hours of work and I can go home and finally start writing for real!
