Big Bang 2015 - Support and Chatter #14

Welcome once again to the Big Bang 2015 support post!

It's the middle of August, the deadline is sneaking closer - and writers are writing. Are you? How is it going? How far along is the story? Or are you just waiting for the list of summaries to go up so you cans tart with making some art?

Remember that we do not have an official sign-up period and for that reason do not do official and mandatory check-ins. You don't need to check-in below and talk about your progress to play, but if you want to talk or seek support from others you can. (And it's fun!) As long as you get in a draft before September Sept 23rd you’re signed-up for this Big Bang. That date is still a long way away and so we invite you to seek support from fellow writers and Steve/Tony lovers in our weekly "Support and Chatter" posts.

I am doing SO MUCH BETTER than last week. I have decided which version of my story to use and I am chugging along-- it's at 9k!

The only problem is that I might actually be writing a novel.

First act is done at ~12.5k. Gonna need to make better headway on II and III though. :\

Also, just curious if anyone has any favorite bits or lines so far from their projects. I think so far, mine has been destroying Earth-3490. It was cataclysmic. I felt like Michael Bay.

You can do it! Also, that sounds like an insane amount of fun for writing, to feel like Michael Bay. :D

I did write a part where Tony and Steve pretty much said they were in love with each other, without actually saying they were in love with each other, as they parted ways. I may have worded things in such a way to really impact the feels, and it made me feel devious. :D

I have no idea where my word count is at right now because I am on mobile but I just wrapped up chapter 7. Superhuge thanks to Woad and Teyke for agreeing to read over my draft. Holy cow on a stick, I'm writing a monster... literally, too!! I have successfully introduced the many many rocks to be thrown at the protagonists while they're stuck up that tree. Now I just gotta get them down.

I think I may have found my focus. I finally listened to my instincts, scrapped about half of what I wrote, rewrote the beginning. I feel like the tone is better and Tony is starting to sound more like Tony.

I really should have my alpha reader read it again but I want to move forward. I think I found a happy middle on the plot and subplot. A little bit of drama mixed in with romance. Now to find the fluff and slight angst to fill the middle of the story.

I read a wonderful fic last night and realized it did 90% of the stuff I wanted to do in both BB WIPs I'm working on...and I loved the story, but that realization made me go to bed and wake up today, a bit depressed. I don't feel like writing now and logically, I know that my stories can end up being different from that one so I should go for it anyway, but it's hard mustering up any motivation to write when I'm feeling this way and I'm afraid that not only am I going to just rehash a lot of the stuff in another fic, a big enough worry in and of itself, but also that my fics won't be as interesting-or interesting at all. I don't know. I tried thinking of what I need to do next in my fics and had to stop because just doing that and thinking about them made me feel really down.

So um...I know this is a really woe-is-me-ish update, but that's where I am right now. :/

Oh geeze, I have been on that precipice and not even realized it. XD I remember mentioning to Magicasen that I'd really wanted to put an I-Am-Become-Death Hickmanvengers Tony in a finished story, not realizing until later she'd already done it so damn well. Whoops! So I know the feeling. /hugs
Just curious, do you have an "Ideal Reader" in mind? Stephen King says that he writes for his wife, and recounts waiting on pins and needles to see if she’ll laugh where he aimed to amuse her in On Writing. (She calls him needy, ha!) So if someone like King gets the same kind of anxiety, I think you ought to cut yourself some slack. :)
On the merits of an ideal reader he goes on to say: “I.R. will help you get outside yourself a little, to actually read your work in progress as an audience would while you’re still working. This is perhaps the best way of all to make sure you stick to story, a way of playing to the audience even while there’s no audience there and you’re totally in charge.”

Ugh, so I didn't do much of anything in the last 1-2 months, but last week I really started to write the hell out of this fic and now... woosh... I'm kind of mostly done x.x However the hell that happened. The last 2 chaps still have missing scenes and all in all, I need to fix a lot of dialogue parts but... still.
I really thought I messed up the deadline. All kudos to my last-minute muse X.X

So this is my first time ever participating in a big bang, friends. I'm so nervous! I'm 16K into my story and typing like mad, but it wants to be a long one and I'm going to be out of town next week, so I'm just hoping I make the deadline. I've always wanted to participate, but I've had a bunch of depression stuff keeping me from doing any real writing for a long time.

I hope I can pull it off! I have a cold, black heart filled with angst and heartbreak that I want to inflict upon the world, if only I can make these fingers type a little faster!
