CLAIMS ARE CLOSED.

To those unfamiliar with the concept, second claims are when all the fics in the Big Bang are made available to be claimed again by a second artist, resulting in teams of one writer and two artists. Unlike the first round of claims, however, second claims are completely optional and not all stories are guaranteed to be claimed again.

We encourage all artists who missed the first round of claims to join in and participate in the second round! Artists who have already claimed a story in round one are also invited to claim a second story.

This is the SECOND CLAIMS phase of the Big Bang, and where the artists come in! 12 fantastic drafts have been submitted and are awaiting artists to claim them.

By claiming a story, you assert that you will collaborate with your writer(s) to produce custom artwork to accompany their story when posting begins in November. There is no penalty-free dropping out after this point.

You do not need to be a member of the [community profile] cap_ironman community or have a Dreamwidth account to make your claim. Anonymous comments on this post are enabled. (Commenting will open when the claiming phase begins).

Your schedule:
  • October: Artists work on their piece, writers finish their fics

  • Saturday, October 24th: Teams select posting dates for November

  • November: Big Bang fic and art begin posting!

A recap on some of the main rules:
  • Please remember to read through our General Event Policies and the Big Bang Event Guidelines for all participants, as well as the Artists’ Guidelines for this year’s challenge before going on to claim any fics.

  • Traditional and digital art are the eligible work types for this Big Bang.

  • You are required to make, at minimum, one piece of accompanying fanwork for the fic you claim. The artwork(s) must be new and made solely for the story in question.

  • This is a collaborative challenge; you are expected to keep in touch with your team for the duration of the challenge. You must coordinate with your partner during the posting period.

  • All participants must be 18 or older.

To claim a summary on Saturday, September 27th, you will need to leave a comment with the following information (just copy and paste in your own details):

Two or three options are recommended as we cannot guarantee that you will get your first choice. However, you may include more if you wish or list just one choice if there is only one summary you are interested in. Remember that you are signing up for a collaborative event—please do not list summaries that you would not be genuinely happy to work with.

  • Claims will be made on a first-come, first-served basis and you will be assigned the first option that is still available on your list.

  • Initially, you may only claim once, and you will be assigned a single fic. We will announce when double claims begin.

  • If the claim time is inconvenient for you, we encourage you to find someone who will put in a claim for you by proxy. All your proxy has to do is comment on the claims post instead of you when the time comes, providing your username, email and claims as set out above in this post.

  • You can email the mod team (cap.im.events@gmail.com) for assistance in finding a proxy.

Writers, remember that artists have different schedules and timezones, and that though we try to accommodate everyone, your fic may not be claimed in the first few hours. Please be patient, and don’t look at claims as a competition This challenge is about pairing like-minded creators who will work together to produce exciting new Steve/Tony content; sometimes it takes a while for the right person to come along!

When matching is complete, we will send out emails to connect artists with their writers, along with further instructions.

NOTE: After you receive the email, PLEASE RESPOND DIRECTLY CONFIRMING you have received the information. Please wait until you have replied to this email before contacting your partner. After confirming the assignment email has been received, it is the artists’ and writers’ responsibilities to open communications with team members and keep in touch for the duration of the collaboration.

A word about warnings: If you have a specific concern and would like the mods to vet a story draft before you make your choices, please let us know at cap.im.events@gmail.com.

Please send any questions to cap.im.events@gmail.com, especially if we've made a mistake with your summary.

ALPHA

Genre: Angst, Grief/Mourning
Universe: MCU
Characters/Pairings other than Steve/Tony: minor Bucky Barnes/Natasha Romanoff, minor Carol Davers/James Rhodes
Warnings: Major character death
Rating: Explicit
Summary:
Steve’s supposed to be inching towards acceptance. Bereavement was a marathon. Yet, he’s never left the starting point, stagnant and nauseous with the reality that he’d have to run for the rest of his life. It’s a shadow that followed him. Even the serum couldn’t do anything to cure the heaviness of loss.

He was under the ice again. The waves crashed without remorse. All Steve could do was stay half-wake, half-asleep, immobile as the wreckage passed. That’s the ocean and that’s life. Steve’s understood that long ago. He hoped that there’s still some part of him that’s salvageable, a part of him that hasn’t been chipped away and worn off by the brutality of grief.

He no longer had hope for reaching a shore. But for now, he floated. On and on and on.

(Steve Rogers has been many things throughout his life: soldier, superhero, husband, father, widower.)

He has to believe that his friend, Howard, would have never betrothed his son to Steve if he had known what Anthony Stark was going to turn into.

FOXTROT

Genre: Romance/Drama
Universe: 616
Warnings: Dirty talk

Summary:
Steve Rogers was back from the dead. And Tony Stark, amnesiac after erasing his memory after the Civil War, had to confirm the truth of it with his eyes, even at a distance, because, as far as he knew, Steve died hating him. He just didn’t expect to be discovered and invited for a cup of coffee in the middle of the night by Steve keeping no hard feelings from him. What was he planning? Would Tony’s heart be able to stand so close to him again, knowing everything that had happened between them, knowing everything Tony always felt for Steve?

Tony decided it was worth it to trust Steve and accept the invitation. What worse could happen? He had already lost everything. After all, it was just a talk. It wasn’t like Tony was going to reveal all of his most intimate secrets, the ones that even Steve hadn’t been able to discover, right?
Leaving all the armors outside, both real and emotional, Tony entered the apartment, not knowing that that night would change everything, in the best ways possible, not before some angst and old wounds being exposed.

As the Continent faces an unnameable threat, it will take the combined effort—and sacrifice—of dedicated people to save the very existence of the world as they know it.
OR
A Witcher finds his Destiny and everything changes.

Ch1 is Steve’s backstory and finding Tony. Ch2 is Tony’s POV of how things progress. Ch3 has changing POVs. You do NOT have to be a Lovecraft lover to read or illustrate the story but some knowledge about Netflix’s The Witcher will probably help. Also, while Nat is sort of Yennefer in this, there’s no animosity between her and the boys. If you’ve always wanted to illustrate tentacles reaching out from the sky, this is your chance!

INDIA

Genre: Romance (in space). Endgame Fix-it
Universe: MCU
Characters/Pairings other than Steve/Tony: Carol, Nebula, mentions of other Avengers, Pepper and Morgan.
Rating: Explicit
Summary:
Tony wakes up in a hospital on another planet missing his memories of the last ten years. The last he knew it was 2013, and now he's on a space road trip - a promo tour, of sorts - with Steve and two women he's never seen before, Carol Danvers and Nebula. He's forgotten a whole lot, that is clear. There's the shocking but good things, like how Tony helped save the Universe and that Steve thinks the world of him now. But clearly there's also a whole lot of bad, too.

It's an Endgame fix-it where Tony lives, but poking at the Civil War events when he learns the truth about his parents all over again. Tony's also instantly enamoured of the little girl in the pictures, thrilled about his nanite armor, there's bonding with Nebula, meeting the Sovereigns, dancing, the sharing of a bed, Steve pining and having a crush but refusing to hook up until Tony knows all of their history, Tony winning an alien game in a casino on Knowhere which causes a brawl, fighting the Krees… And yes, after a bit of angst, getting his memories back and earning that happy ever after.
