NOTE: SECOND CLAIMS ARE CLOSED.

This is the CLAIMS phase of the Big Bang, and where the artists come in! An amazing 17 drafts have been submitted and are awaiting artists to claim them. ![[community profile]](https://www.dreamwidth.org/img/silk/identity/community.png)
Your schedule:
- October: Artists work on their piece, writers finish their fics
- Saturday, October 26th: Teams select posting dates in November
- November: Big Bang fic and art begin posting!
A recap on some of the main rules:
- Please remember to read through our General Event Policies and the Big Bang Event Guidelines for all participants, as well as the Artists’ Guidelines for this year’s challenge before going on to claim any fics.
- Acceptable art includes traditional and digital art. Other visual mediums—such as edits, manipulations, fanvids or works that rely on or are derivative of existing material—are not eligible for this Big Bang.
- You are required to make, at minimum, one piece of accompanying fanwork for the fic you claim, and can make as many pieces as you'd like. The artwork(s) must be new and made solely for the story in question.
- This is a collaborative challenge; you are expected to keep in touch with your team for the duration of the challenge. You must coordinate with your partner during the posting period.
- All participants must be 18 or older.
To claim a summary on Saturday, September 28th, you will need to leave a comment with the following information (just copy and paste in your own details):
Two or three options are recommended as we cannot guarantee that you will get your first choice. However, you may include more if you wish or even list just one choice if there is only one summary you are interested in. Remember that you are signing up for a collaborative event—please do not list summaries that you would not be genuinely happy to work with.
Claims will be made on a first-come, first-served basis and you will be assigned the first option that is still available in your list. For the first hour of claims, only NEW Big Bang participants will be able to claim - after this, claims will open to everyone, and double claims will be allowed. This is to give everyone who couldn't be there for claims opening a chance to claim something as well. Remember that participants are allowed a maximum total of two signups to the Cap-IM Big Bang, which includes both art and fic.
Writers, remember that artists have different schedules and timezones, and that though we try to accommodate everyone, your fic may not be claimed in the first few hours. Please be patient, and don’t look at claims as a competition This challenge is about pairing like-minded creators who will work together to produce exciting new Steve/Tony content; sometimes it takes a while for the right person to come along!
Artists, if the claim time is inconvenient for you, we encourage you to find someone who will put in a claim for you by proxy. All your proxy has to do is comment on the claims post instead of you when the time comes, providing your username, email and claims as set out above in this post. If you do not already know someone who can do this for you, you can email the mod team (cap.im.events@gmail.com) for assistance in finding a proxy.
When matching is complete, we will send out emails to connect artists with their writers, along with further instructions. This might take a while, as making a mistake at this crucial stage is something everyone would like to avoid; please don’t panic if you don’t receive an email immediately. NOTE: After you receive the email, PLEASE RESPOND DIRECTLY CONFIRMING you have received the information. Please wait until you have replied to this email before contacting your partner. After confirming the assignment email has been received, it is the artists’ and writers’ responsibilities to open communications with team members and keep in touch for the duration of the collaboration.
A word about warnings: Many of these stories include strong language, substance abuse, sexual situations, violence, etc. We limited warnings here to the big stuff. If you have a specific concern and would like the mods to vet a story draft before you make your choices, please let us know at cap.im.events@gmail.com.
Please send any questions or things to cap.im.events@gmail.com, especially if we've made a mistake with your summary.

ALFA
Genre: Angst, Hurt/Comfort
Universe: MCU - post Iron Man 3 & Winter Soldier, Pre-Age of Ultron
Characters/Pairings other than Steve/Tony: Natasha Romanoff, Clint Barton, Thor, Bruce Banner, Sam Wilson, mentions of Bucky Barnes
Warnings: Alcohol abuse (but not alcoholism)
Rating: Mature
Summary:
Fresh from being fished out of the Potomac, Steve struggles with the revelation (and loss) of Bucky, and deals with his feelings it in the only way he knows how: he doesn't. Most days, he tells himself it’ll all be okay, because it has to be.
Slowly, the cracks in Steve’s veneer begin to crack. He throws himself into fights, drinks too much of Thor’s Asgardian mead, wakes up and wishes he never woke up. Tony sees all of this, Steve doesn’t realize that Tony seeks him out to make sure he isn’t alone. They get the rest of the team together to hunt down Hydra bases and find out more information about Bucky (a fruitless effort), and they all spend time together watching movies and dancing to The Beatles.
Steve doesn’t mean to notice the way Tony’s thigh presses against his when they watch movies together, doesn’t mean to open up to Tony about how he really feels about being Captain America and finding out his best friend is kind of not really dead, doesn’t mean to kiss him, but he does, anyway.
BETA
Genre: CW fix-it, action/adventure, romance
Universe: MCU
Characters/Pairings other than Steve/Tony: Characters: Rhodey, Sam, Wanda. Pairings: mentions of past Tony/Pepper, mentions of Wanda/Vision, neither are prominent in the fic.

Rating: Explicit
Summary:
Tony hasn't seen Steve since Siberia, and he's happy about that. He doesn't *miss* Steve, obviously, or wish their relationship had ended differently. But when Steve turns up on his doorstep, injured and pleading with Tony to help him rescue Sam and Wanda from a Hydra cell in Lichtenbad, Tony agrees, on one condition. After this, they're done. He never wants to see or hear from Steve again.
Steve agrees, but as they start working together, Tony starts rethinking his position. It's hard to trust Steve, but it's harder to hold on to his anger. And figuring out where they go from here might be even more difficult than that, especially since there's this rescue mission they need to be focused on.
(Happy Steve/Tony ending. Features sleeping curled up together, Steve and Tony sparring (which then leads to sex), Tony giving Steve a new Captain America suit, and Tony learning to appreciate Steve's beard. There is some violence, but none described in graphic detail.)

Fresh out of juvie, Steve is determined to turn his life around. Just because he’s an orphan, doesn’t mean he’s going to grow up into a criminal or a wash-out. No, Steve is going to have a happy, fulfilling life. He’s going to have a good job, raise a family, and be a good Christian. His plan to achieve that is simple: get a part-time job at the local cafe, start going to church, stop being gay, and if he can stop punching people while he’s at it, that would be great too. Things don’t really go to plan, though. His boss is gay, his girlfriend is just using him, and there are nazis at school. And that’s without even mentioning Tony, the son of one of the richest men in America who comes to the cafe all the time for unknown reasons, and hits on Steve incessantly. Steve is determined to achieve his dream of a happy life despite adversity. Her story starts like this: her name is Natasha Antonia Stark, she’s born on May 29, 1970, and she doesn’t know it at the time, but she disappoints her father.
In an alternate world, Howard and Maria had a daughter. What would her life be like? How much would things be different? What kind of a nebulous relationship would she have with Captain America? (Especially when he suffers from chronic putting-his-foot-in-his-mouth-ius around her. The road to hell sure is paved with good intentions if you asked Steve). It's a story about Natasha struggling to understand Steve and why he is the way he is before coming to accept him and falling in love with him along the way. BASICALLY.

Summary:
There were several reasons as to why Tony Stark had decided not to go to MIT, instead following with his sister Natasha to a small town college in Upstate NY. One of the reasons was because this was where one of his favorite authors was teaching a fiction writing class, and he wanted to have at least one chance to write before he had to go be the head of Research and Development at Stark Industries, following his older brothers path, all three of his brothers were already working at the company. The second was the chance to go somewhere where there was a small possibility that no one would really notice him, he didn't really stand out when he was just himself. The third was to stay out of his father's way all the while writing fanfiction about his favorite superhero Captain America. On the first day he meets Steve Rogers, and from that moment forward Tony's life changes more than he could imagine.
Steve Rogers hated Captain America, his father had created the character for him when he was a baby, like his brothers who also had their own comic book characters, but for some reason Captain America had become his father's most popular character. It had also made Steve a target while he was growing up, which was something he had hated all of his life. Now a Junior at college, he meets his best friend's roommate, someone who absolutely loves Captain America, but there's something else that has caught Steve's eye. In some of the drawings above Tony's desk is another hero, a man in a metal suit, but as he gets to know the hero he also gets to know the guy behind Iron Man, and finds himself falling in love with the writer as well as finding a reason to like a character he had hated all of his life through Tony's stories.
Partly based on Rainbow Rowell's Fangirl, follow Tony and Steve as they navigate their new relationship, through misunderstandings, dickish classmates, Steve's art, Tony's stories, superheroes and figuring out what dating is like.

When at last Tony arrives in Big Eden, Steve is confronted with the fact that he doesn't know Tony as well as he thought he did. Though Tony and Steve marry the day after they meet, it takes a long time and a lot of work for them to learn to trust each other, open up, say what they mean, and 'fess up to being head over heels.
PAPA
Genre: Canon Divergence
Universe: 616
Characters/Pairings other than Steve/Tony: Janet, Thor, Hawkeye, other Avengers
Warnings: two scenes with Steve receiving serious injuries; Tony has a relationship with a Steve who came back wrong; unreliable narrator
Rating: Explicit
Summary:
When Steve is seriously injured, Tony is desperately worried for him as he touches a cosmic cube. Steve is saved. But reality is extremely altered as a result. Everyone knows Captain America died at the end of the war and the Avengers are a great superhero team. But Tony remembers the original reality --- finding Steve, Steve being an avenger, having a crush on him.
But he runs into someone who is awfully like Steve again and falls hard (and Steve fall hard for him). Tony is tortured thinking that being in Steve's life is going to undo whatever happened to save his life and what's worse is that while Steve is living his best life, it's not really Steve -- what made Steve Steve has been removed and he is a pale shadow of himself. Meanwhile the Avengers are falling apart.
Wracked with guilt, Tony tries to find a way to solve the problem, even if it means accepting that Steve will always live so that he is in danger. Tony find that he'd rather have a whole Steve then a part Steve. It all works out.
